Read a banned book, protest censorship! This IS an issue for science fiction fans: a primary "push" among the organized book-banning wingnuts ("religious" conservatives like "Focus on the Family") is to censor children's and Young Adult fantasy (if the book's not "Christian", then the magic is promoting "Devil worship" or "witchcraft") and science fiction (portrayal of egalitarian future societies without homophobia or sex-role stereotyping, among other things). Besides, anyone who'd claim that TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD should be banned for "promoting racism" is a delusional semi-literate and shouldn't have control over what the rest of us read...
